Drugs & Alcohol

If you or anyone you know in Thurrock needs help with a drug, alcohol or so-called legal high problem, the below services offer support.

Service's based in Grays town centre but serve the whole of Thurrock. All services are free and confidential.

services include open access 'walk in' advice and information for anyone needing help with a substance misuse problem. Staff offer a one-to-one support for more severe problems, along with complementary therapies, referral to psychological therapies and other services.

Adults who have severe or dependent problems with drugs, alcohol or so-called legal highs can get:

  • counselling
  • substitute prescribing
  • referral routes to detoxification
  • residential rehabilitation

There is also a needle exchange service on site.

Wize-Up - young people's substance misuse service for people aged 18 years-old and under

Wize-Up is a team of experienced workers that specialises in supporting children, young people aged 18 years-old and under, and families across the Thurrock area.

Wize-Up offers confidential advice, information and support to help young people cut down or stop using substances such as drugs, alcohol or so-called legal highs.

Other support

If you are currently in treatment or have been in the past, you can meet up with others for support. There are mutual aid groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anoymous and Cocaine Anonymous and groups for families affected by drugs such as Families Anonymous.
