Internet History - Cover Your Tracks!

If you are worried about someone knowing what you have searched for within 'Ask Thurrock', there are ways that you can delete your internet viewing history that will increase your safefy on the internet.

The quickest way to delete your history is to press the 'Ctrl' button with 'H'. This will bring up your history and allow you to delete what you do not want to be seen by right clicking on a record and selecting delete.

You can also delete your history using the steps below-

Internet Explorer

  • Pull down Tools menu
  • Select Delete Browsing History
  • Select Delete Files
  • Select Delete History
  • Select Delete Forms


  • Click the Firefox button at the top of the window, go over to the History menu and select Clear Recent History OR for Windows XP, click the Tools menu at the top of the firefox window and select Clear Recent History...
  • Click the drop-down menu next to Time range to clear to choose how much of your history Firefox will clear.
  • Next, click the arrow next to Details and Tick Browsing History, Saved Form and Search History and Cache
  • Finally, click the Clear Now button and the window will close and the items you've selected will be cleared.


Google Chrome

  • Click onto the 'Wrench' icon which is located in the top right of your browser window
  • Click onto Tools
  • Click onto Clear browsing data
  • Select the amount of time you want to delete in your history
  • Select the types of history you want to delete
  • Click the Clear browsing data button
