The main purpose of engagement research is to draw upon respondents' attitudes, feelings, beliefs, experiences and reactions in a way in which would not be feasible using other methods, for example observation, one-to-one interviewing, or questionnaire surveys.

The SEN Service wishes to empower its parents, carers and children and young people, enabling them to influence policy and procedures that directly impact them. In bridging research and policy, focus group discussions can be useful in providing an insight into different opinions among different stakeholders involved in ongoing improvement and service development process.

Engagement opportunities have been identified through schemes of work, feedback already received and in reccognition of the broad respresentation required across SEND to meet the aim and vision of the service successfully and ensure delivery of the 6 priority areas within the SEND Communication and Engagement Strategy.
