What do childminders do?

Childminders are registered and inspected by Ofsted.  Offering a professional home-from-home childcare and early education, looking after small groups of children of different ages and from different families.

Childminders are perfectly placed to support the early learning and development for children of all ages, working closely with parents to provide bespoke and flexible childcare.

As with all early years registered childcare providers a registered early years childminder is required to follow the Statutory Requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Why use a childminder?

  • They provide full and or part time early education and childcare, 
  • They may provide before and / or afterschool care (wraparound childcare).
  • They may provide holiday childcare.
  • Some childminders are registered for overnight care.
  • May offer weekend, early morning, and late evening care.
  • Many childminders provide the Funded Early Education Entitlement places for 2,3- and 4-year-olds.
