ncb - National Children's Bureau - Early Years
NCB hosts a number of early years-based projects and initiatives. Primarily, the Early Childhood Unit (ECU) works to sustain and improve the quality of services for young children through direct work with children's services and settings, and through its national networks.
ECU's mission is the promotion of young children's well-being, learning and development, and the removal of barriers to this aim.
Early Years Peer to Peer Support
NCB is being funded by the DfE to develop a programme of work to improve outcomes for young children through a model of peer to peer support.
National Quality Improvement Network
NQIN is a specialist body that support quality improvement managers and policy makers working in early years, play and extended services.
ECF aims to bring together partners in the early childhood sector to debate issues and champion quality experiences for all young children.
Parents, Early Years and Learning
PEAL training supports all early years settings towork in partnership with parents to enhance children's learning and development.
Raising Early Achievement in Literacy
The Sheffield REAL (Raising Early Achievement in Literacy) Project began in 1995 and was the largest preschool literacy intervention study in the UK.
Quality provision for two-year-olds
NCB is currently developing training to help increase quality provision for two year olds within settings
Local Authority Early Years Network
The Local Authority Early Years Network focuses on addressing cross cutting strategic, policy and practice issues affecting the early years sector.
Young Children’s Voices Network
The YCVN network supports local authorities in developing good practice in listening to young children.
Centre for Excellence and Outcomes
The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services provides a range of products and support services to improve outcomes.
