Beacon Hill Academy (mainsite)
Beacon Hill Academy is a specialist school. We cater for pupils aged 2 years 6 months to 19 years who have severe and complex learning difficulties. Our provision is not suitable for pupils with a diagnosis of ASD.
We have 2 separate sites, our Post 16 students are currently based in Buxton Road, Grays.
Children can start with us from 2 years 6 months on an assessment placement which is usually part time with the option to gradually increase according to pupils needs. We also offer split placements with local mainstream schools and settings.
Not all of the children who attend the assessment nursery will automatically progress into the main part of the school.
All of the pupils who attend Beacon Hill will have an Education, Health and care plan or be in the process of being assessed for one.
Admissions are managed jointly with the local authority SEN team
We have strong links with partners and therapists including Portage, physio, OT and school nursing.
We offer access to music therapy, speech and language therapy, hydrotherapy, dance and employ other additional therapists on a rotating basis.
We offer training and support including signalong courses and Elklan. Our Outreach service is commissioned by Thurrock to provide support with early years, manual handling, IT and curriculum access for pupils with severe and complex needs who attend mainstream schools.
Our Aladdins Cave and Sports Locker are open to members to borrow specialist equipment and resources.
For further details about the school please see our website or contact us directly.
