The Disabled Children's Short Breaks and Outreach Service Life and Social Skills Group
The Disabled Children’s Short Breaks and Outreach Service runs a Life and Social Skills service (formerly known as The Befriending Service). This is aimed at enabling small groups of children/young people to access community based activities, promoting independence skills and opportunities for social interaction. But more than that; it allows a platform to build friendships and have fun together in the community without any barriers.
The Life and Social Skills Service groups are broken down into the following age groups and meet regularly.
Group 1 – School years 5 and 6
Group 2 – School years 7, 8 and 9
Group 3 – School years 10 and 11
Group 4 – 6th form college
