Two Year Old Early Years Entitlement
The Two Year Old Early Years Entitlement provides free childcare for children whose parents/carers are on a low income and meet the required financial criteria. It can be taken as 15 hours per week during school term time, or over a longer period for fewer hours per week.
The criteria for the Two Year Old Entitlement is as follows:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit and an annual income of no more than £16,190
- Working Tax credits and annual gross earnings of no more than £16,190 per year
Or in families who do not meet the above criteria but where the child meets any one of the following:
- a current statement of special educational needs (SEN) or an education, health and care plan
- attracts Disability Living Allowance;
- are looked after by their Local Authority
- have left care through special guardianship or through an adoption or residence order
You may only use this funding for approved Ofsted-registered childcare providers, this includes Childminders (for more information, please view the Childminders as 2 year old providers video).
