Diversity In Apprenticeship (DIA) programme

The Diversity In Apprenticeship (DIA) programme helps young people leaving care with training and support to get an apprenticeship. DIA is designed for young people who are ready to make positive changes to their life and provides the following:

  • a personalised programme of support for each care leaver. This programme could include literacy, numeracy, life skills and employability skills training
  • practical support for care leavers to prepare for work experience, including help with outfits, shoes, journeys and lunch
  • work experience tasters, ranging from 1 day to 8 weeks is arranged for the care leavers
  • close monitoring and regular evaluation of each care leaver’s progress, to enable timely induction to an apprenticeship framework
