The Department for Education updated its Home to School Travel Statutory Guidance for Children of Compulsory School Age in June 2023. The council will be updating the Home to School Travel Assistance Policy in line with the revised guidance. The policy was last updated and published in May 2021.

In July 2020, the updated policy and report was presented to the Council's Cabinet. The Cabinet decisions agreed, included the implementation of a parent contribution July 2020 Cabinet Report and Decision

The Department for Education (“the DfE”) advises councils to consult locally for 28 days on any proposed changes to the policy on school travel arrangements with all interested parties. This consultation closes at 11:59pm on 19 January 2024.
